- The house property, including electronic equipment and furnishings, must be treated with care and preserved in its original condition.
- Housemates can’t leave the house premises without explicit permission.
- Housemates can’t sleep during the day, and contestants are only permitted to rest when the house lights are extinguished at night.
- Alcohol is strictly forbidden.
- Physical aggression towards fellow housemates is strictly prohibited
Anyone who violates this rule will result in immediate elimination from the competition.
Nomination
In Bigg Boss, the nomination process is the way housemates are selected for weekly eviction. While the exact rules can change depending on the Malayalam season, the basic process usually works like this:
- Nomination Round (Inside the House):
- Every week, Bigg Boss announces a nomination task or direct nominations.
- Housemates are usually asked to nominate 2 or more fellow contestants they want to see in danger of eviction, giving valid reasons.
- Sometimes the nomination happens in the confession room privately, and sometimes openly in front of everyone.
- Tasks & Twists:
- Bigg Boss often gives special tasks or twists where housemates will perform activities to save themselves or nominate others.
- Sometimes entire groups can be nominated due to rule violations, fights, or Bigg Boss’s direct decision.
- Formation of Nomination List:
- Based on all votes and twists, a final list of nominated contestants is prepared.
- These contestants are then up for public voting.
- Public Voting:
- Viewers vote through official apps, websites, SMS, or other voting methods to save their favorite contestant from eviction.
- Eviction:
- The contestant with the least number of votes from the public is evicted during the weekend episode, usually by the host.
👉 In short: Housemates nominate → Public votes → Contestant with least support gets evicted.
Broadcast
Bigg Boss Malayalam has been aired on the Asianet channel since its first season. Each weekday episode has a recap of the previous day’s events within the house. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), the show sets a comprehensive discussion between the host, Mohanlal, and the housemates, reviewing the week’s highlights and culminating in a discussion about the upcoming elimination. Since Season 4, Bigg Boss has been watching live streaming on Disney+ Hotstar through a subscription. Also, you can stream episodes and participate in contestant elimination voting via the Disney+ Hotstar app.
